Aim The aim of this course is to provide the participant with the knowledge and skills to perform commercial rope access to the standard of an ARAA Level 3 rope technician.
Description This Industrial Rope Access course is designed for persons working at heights to do so using commercial rope access techniques. The course provides participants with OH&S and legislative requirements and procedures to ensure the health and safety of any persons required to work at heights. The course also provides emergency response training, rope access training and use and care of equipment.
 Duration Total of 40 hours of training, practical & theory + 10-12 hours of assessment.
Unit/s of Competence
Minimum level 3 competency:
*Complete written paper detailing complete project and regulatory requirements in industry worksite/talk of their choice e.g. urban, confined space, electrical, etc.
*Demonstrate good management, supervision & communication skills.
 Accreditation Participants who successfully complete the course will be issued with an ARAA ‘credit card’ type certification that is valid for 3 years.
 Course Content All operators will be taught competency to complete the following safely; maintaining a minimum of two points of contact at all times:
*Demonstrate advance rigging techniques using a selection of anchors and equipment in various work situations.
*Demonstrate haul/cross haul/lowering of a load (could include workmate).
*Demonstrate retrieval of unconscious or injured workmate from awkward access/lead climbing in various work situations.
*Demonstrate horizontal and vertical lead climbing.
Pre-Requisites

*Evidence of 500 hours work on ropes as level 2.
*Level 2 ARAA ticket.
*First Aid Certificate.
*Senior first aid certificate.
*Demonstrate all above level 1 & 2 requirements safely with confidence
*Completed registration & medical form. 

 Assessment *Assessment is conducted by an Independent ARRA assessor that has not provided any of the training on the course and therefore is independent of the training modules.
*Practical & theory modules will be conducted by the participant to safely complete the course competencies.
