Course Content

Use personal protection equipment

Observe safe working practices

This unit may be applied in a workplace in which materials and chemicals are subject to codes and regulations are stored and used, for example, chemicals, explosives, solvents, dangerous materials, acids, noxious waste products etc.

Personal protection includes goggles, filter masks, air helmets, safety boots and appropriate clothes/garments. This unit describes the competencies which are beyond those safety requirements normally applied in the workplace as described in Unit 1.2F (Apply principles of Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) in work environment) or specifically described in individual units such as Welding.

Assessment

Competency is to be demonstrated through observation of performance on the job over a period of time, utilising equipment typically carried by appliances with which the applicant works.
