The aim of this course is to provide the participant

with the knowledge and skills to participate in a

confined space rescue. 

Description

This course is designed for persons involved with participating in a confined space rescue. The

course provides participants with OH&S and 

legislative requirements and procedures to ensure 

the health and safety of any persons required to

perform a confined space rescue.

 Duration1 Day
Unit/s of Competence 

Conduct pre-donning checks and test Breathing

Apparatus (BA)

Don and check & operate BA

Maintain, test and identify BA components

Describe the physiology of respiration

Respond to incidents requiring breathing

apparatus to be worn and use safe working practices.

 Accreditation

Participants who successfully complete the course

will be issued with an ‘credit card’ type certification

and certificate of accreditation.

Course Content
THEORY (Power Point and discussion presentation)
* Physiology of respiration
* BA components
* BA Operation and maintenance
* Standard entrapment procedures
* Operation of life safety systems used in entrapment 
procedures
* Communications during emergencies procedures all 
students receive a Handbook on material covered.

PRACTICAL Demonstration and individual assessment 
on:
* Donning, starting up, shutting down a BA
* Changing a cylinder,  Checking air supply and
operation of distress signal unit on a BA
* Operational Techniques such as facial seal, 
working in hot and humid atmospheres and 
personal guide lines.
Pre-Requisites 
Completed registration & medical form.
 Assessment

Conducted by our trainers and information confidential.
